Paddled out last Friday (16/8), once again using the barometer as my guide. Sure enough I got bricked as I arrived at the mark. Snapper around 40cm jumped on the drifted sp as I rerigged. Later I hooked another good king on the retrieve and was reefed once more. This one I should have free spooled - could feel the line rubbing.
Chased some birds after that for a single hookup which finished with a straightened hook. This was after I'd tightened the drag. Then it went quiet
Am now convinced of the importance of the barometer. Two days later I checked back at the launch site and the reports were slim. Good to have the luxury of choosing when to fish at the moment. Just need to be able to convert those king hookups
