Headed out with Henry at first light in ideal conditions. We both choose our launch to maximise our dampness, but had no problems. Both aiming to get snapper for Good Friday dinner so we headed to Spot D. Somewhat shy of it a rod buckled. Started to bring it in but it let go. While sorting out that rod, the other loaded up. Brought in a snapper, maybe legal but it went back. First line back in the water and off before I can get the second in. Another maybe, also returned.

Got to the mark and hooked up on first cast. Definitely a better fish. Turned out to be a snapper a little shy of 2kg.

We drifted around in the light breeze for the next hour or so, until Henry hooked up to a large cuttlefish. He didn't want to get covered in ink so called me to help bring it in. The hook pulled as I was trying to figure how to lift it. He hooked up again very quickly. Probably the same cuttle. This time I managed to corral it to the side of my ski and lift it into the hatch. The bugger tried to eat my snapper but I managed to separate them.

Henry then decided he wanted to try for flathead. So we headed into shallow water and started drifting. Wasn't long before he had a 40cm snapper in the hatch. Almost immediately he hooked up to something bigger - a 70+ cm dusky flathead. That was two plans come together in one trip.



Easy return to the beach where we scored quite a bit of admiration. Alas no bikini babes. A very good Friday. Cuttlefish stew is on the stove as I type. Thanks Henry
