Launched alongside some of the plastic regulars. Kas was joining me but couldn't tear himself away from his missus so said he'd see me out there. Headed past the others to my usual spot without a touch on the way out. No sign of bonnies. Thought I'd cast the slug anyhow and bang. Unmistakeably a bonito and in the hatch it went. A bit over 50cm. The bonito started hitting the surface and a cast into a boil also proved fruitful, though the fish was smaller. After that there were many boils out of reach and fast moving, so I reverted to casting an sp. Not a touch on that all day.

Was a lot of bird action out wider, which a few guys investigated but only reports were of rats.

Unfortunately, the fish were all gone by the time Kas showed.

Started heading in and got careless, allowing myself to get too close to the rockshelf, in about 3m. A wave threatened to push me onto the shelf. I leant into it but leant to far an came off, in the process crashing against a split-handled rod and breaking it. Got back on and mucked around sorting out rods and lines, both of which managed to snag on the shallow reef. Broke them off and headed in.

Second stupid mistake in a week. I really must stop fishing on Wednesdays!

The wife has called for fish cakes this evening and so it shall be - thai of course
