Lousy start to the day. Having spent a few hours during the week making sure my FF/GPS connections were all good, it played up this morning. Any bump would cause it to turn off. A capacitor might be worth considering. Headed out regardless, restarting the damned device every now and again. Tried a couple of drifts for nothing except for cephalopods molesting my plastics.

Headed a bit further out and along and encouraged to see some very dense schools of fish on the sounder. A guru from the mid-north coast had advised me that these are always worth a try. Was close to the top of the tide and over a school when the first hookup came - a very welcome pan-size snapper. 15 minutes or so later and again over a school, its twin joined me.

Quiet for a while, then on one drift I had a strong take that missed the hook, taking some drag and almost pulling off the sp before it let go. Shortly after a hookup and I got a flash of pink before it spat the hook. Paddling back to the start of the drift the other sp was hit hard. A good tussle saw a 50+cm bonito on board.

Also had a couple of undersized snapper, a pike and a huge sergeant baker so kept busy. Very gentle landing with no silly errors
