Talking to my step-father, who is basically waiting for his body to stop, got me thinking about getting older and how to keep up this fine pastime (you've got rocks in your head if you think its a sport). Having lived with a crook lower back for about 15 years I'm pretty sure its mostly downhill although paddling has been generally beneficial for my back.
So what to do. Keeping it simple is pretty obvious, though I'm still inclined to take out as much as I can just in case. Not very clever when you think about it. Your fishing for the day is pretty much determined when you turn off the ignition. Might as well accept that and put the effort into using a small amount of tackle well. I'll learn sometime.
The other obvious thing is the boat. When I sold the barge one of my priorities was finding a yak that was easy to handle off the water so I wouldn't strain my back. The Pro Fisherman at around 23kg is the lightest sit-on-top of its size. That plus the deck layout made it an easy choice for me. I can lift it straight onto the roof of my 4 cylinder hatch.
But the day will come when that becomes an effort. Do I go for something a bit lighter like the RTM Disco, following the keep it simple strategy? A Viking Espri maybe. Or do I go the path of Daft Wullie and get a super ski? Hmmmm

Super ski - you know you want to !!
Its not such a good thing to think of your mortality , as there is only one answer , so best ignore it and push onwards , if you bought an RTM disco my friend you would be a very unhappy chappy as your balance would see you having a lot of swims , Breambo is a surfer and has exceptional balance. On the other hand a Stealth super light means that you are actually enjoying your fishing before you even get on , like owning a Ferrari , half the enjoyment is looking and anticipating the great ride you are about to have

Baz, just choose Name/URL out of the identity options and type your name in the box.
Went through my tackle bag today.
Mission: select leader, jigheads and sps for a minimal outing with two rods. Yesterday I only used four sp types and two jigheads so they were the targets.
Outcome: failure. Will be taking 11 pkts of sp, some hbs, and a range of jigheads next outing, but only one roll of leader and two rods. Rats beware!
I think if you get something like say.................a Stealth Express (I know someone who owns one - will give you unbiased report if you like) it would be more like owning a super charged bently
