Flying

My current fishing challenge is fly fishing from the  ski. Have had a casting lesson and done a little practice and am waiting for schools of surface fish.

In the meantime, I've been trolling the fly to see if I can get a hookup and to see what it's like to fight a fish on a 9' rod while seated. Got my chance today, hooking a rat as I trolled in this morning's sloppy conditions. Wasn't too hard a fight and managed to coax the fish yakside without risk of breaking the rod. The reel only has a quarter turn in the drag (entire outfit including line was $100) so the fight was very direct. Had to use my Palm to lock the spool.

Next step is to hook up on the retrieve
