Trolled while looking for surface action. Got one of the smallest kings I've seen early on. A bit later and over the reef the reel kicked into life. By the time I got the rod out of the holder it was into the backing. In the process, the winding knob on the reel sheared off. Left with no choice but to strip the fish in. Got it close and grabbed the leader but a last effort saw the leader part
Sorted out the tangle of stripped line then moved on to sps
Now I need to sort out the reel, up the leader and try to figure how to land decent sized fish
