What can go wrong in one week?
Woke up early last Sunday morning feeling uncomfortable. Felt like inflammation of the airway. Must be getting a cold or flu. Anyhow, could not get comfortable. Later that morning I thought it might be muscular - previous day had been for a paddle then done a large, satisfying amount of damage to a tree with a bush saw. But it was in the sternum area, slightly left to be exact, so SWMBO called the medical centre. They referred her to the local hospital.
To keep the story short, we went, they asked lots of questions, administered several indignities and took some blood. Everything was clear but the blood test deemed critical and so it was. Wasn't long before I was in an ambulance on my way to The Mater and care of a cardiologist. Angiogram on Tuesday with two stents inserted and a repeat performance on Friday and today I'm back home.
Good news is that I can start paddling again almost immediately. Bad news is that I have a collagen plug in each groin and can't lift any more than 5kg for fear of opening the wounds. Other news is that NSW prohibits driving a motor vehicle within 28 days of a heart attack.
Oh and what else happened? My eldest daughter wrote off my rust bucket on Tuesday morning in peak hour traffic. Fortunately she was uninjured and we were already discussing replacing the rustbucket. Just as well I can't drive, eh, as I don't have a car.
What else can happen? Well the ebay auction for the cobra ended on Monday. Not a great price but she's gone to a keen paddler and I hope they have many happy days. Shiny new piece of glass is due to be uncrated on Monday. Let's hope all is well
