Noone to fish with today so hit the harbour, launching at first light. Wind was stronger than anticipated and the ff/gps would power up but power off a few seconds later (think that the battery has finally crapped out). Decided to just paddle around the usual spots trolling a couple of hbs. Round the first point and the heavy outfit, with a javallon double jointed minnow, rigged with an assist hook, loaded up. A tailor about 40cm.
Paddled on, covering the intended territory but staying wide of the headlands as the 2m swell pounded in. An extra loop around the most productive area and back in for an early finish. There were a few more hits without hookup. Later discovered the double had had one of the hooks broken. Probably another tailor and the hook gauge was too light. Will probably replace it with a small assist hook.
Cooked up the fish this evening. Fed three of us. I think tailor is underrated. Not a special fish but certainly edible. The dog loves me too

Fed three of you? Is that you, Ang and the dog or you, Ang, a child and left overs to the dog?
Either way sure it was nice to have a fish on the yak again after all the crazy swell
